I would be lying to you if I said, “I don’t remember the last time I was this excited watching Mets baseball”.
Last year I felt this feeling during the 4 game win streak and that week where the Mets flirted with being 4 games over .500.
In 2013, the extreme optimist in me found the excitement of, “I need to watch this game” during the 5 game winning streak when the Mets went from 12 games under .500 to 7. That feeling was also in the air early when club started of 7-4.
In 2012 the feeling came roaring out in mid-May when the club went on a five game streak sitting at 18-13. In early June that year the Mets were still 8 games above .500.
This feeling comes up every year, especially when you’re an optimist. However, this year, the combination of being 8-3, on a 6 game streak, and the confidence in the clubhouse makes it feel different. The game ends and I’m ready to watch the next game immediately.
