The MLBPA filed a grievance against the Mets (on behalf of Krod) as expected yesterday. In case you missed it, after having surgery the Mets placed Krod on the DQ list for his injury since it occurred in an inappropriate manner (you know, the not on a baseball field, law breaking kind). Krod being on the DQ list will mean he will lose a tick above 3 million dollars for the rest of the season, bringing his season total to slightly over 3.1 million.
The Players Association is basically doing what they are supposed to do. They exist to protect the players, so filing this grievance is part of their existance. The Association is also challenging the Mets on their goal to non-gurantee Krod's contract. If they can't reach an agreement, then an arbritator will have to take on the case.
Upon hearing about the grievance the Mets released the following statement:
The only sure conclusion from all of this is that I will be using that logo on top of this article several more times before this all cleared up.
