It has been an interesting Opening Day so far (I say so far because technically Opening Day includes 4/4, 4/5 and 4/6) and there have been a lot moments to write about. For example, there is David Wright showing power and leading the Mets in a beat down of the Marlins. There was Jason Heyward homering in his first game of the season. Mark Buerhle made the play of the year on Opening Day. A Red Sox fan clearing giving Swisher the middle finger on National Television.
I'm already feeling an intense disdain for Heyward, because of his skill set. The ceremonial pitch had Hank Aaron throwing to Heyward (no pressure kid, just gonna put you with the most storied player in the Braves franchise history) and then in his first AB Heyward crushes the pitch for a 3-R homer. There was a New York Met who homered in his first AB, Kaz Matsui, but lets not talk about that.
Here's the video of the Red Sox fan giving a player on the Yankees the finger as he ran after a ball. I'm not going to embed it because well, it's not exactly family friendly.
And below is the play of the year. I found this on youtube and it will probably be removed soon. However you can find this clip everywhere
And on a final note. At this point last season the Mets had one win and one homer. Same thing so far this year. Lets Go Mets!
