Darvish held the Mets down through 7 innings and the Dodgers offense was just a little much for the Mets to handle. End result: Mets got shut out. Now Seth Lugo will take the mound to see if he can get the Mets back on the right track.
Seth Lugo is 5-3 over 10 games and 9 starts pitching 57.2 innings with a 4.53 ERA, 4.43 FIP and 1.370 WHIP. His last two starts haven’t been great as he allowed 9 runs, 8 earned, over 11.0 innings with 16 hits and no walks. Lugo has never faced the Dodgers before and has never faced a batter on Dodgers while they were with other teams.
The Mets bats will try to get through Rich Hill who is 8-4 over 15 games and 78.0 innings with a 3.35 ERA, 3.71 FIP and 1.179 WHIP. Rich Hill had a filthy July where he went 5-0 in 5 games and 31.0 innings striking out 40 and walking only 5. His ERA at through the month was 1.45 and opponents hit only .171 against him and got on base at a .220 clip. In June he held the Mets to 1 run over 5.0 innings while walking 3 and striking out 8.
