After a disappointing weekend dropping the series and the last two games against the Mariners, the Mets travel to Rockies without Addison Reed but with Amed Rosario. For the Mets, their Sunday woes continued in their last game allowing 9 runs before scoring 1 in the top of the 9th inning. But it’s a new day in Metsville with Amed Rosario. He’s not surprised, he’s ready. In the minors this year he was hitting .328/.367/.466 which you can compare to his career minors line of .291/.336/.405. His current line is also comparable to his line last year (split St Lucie and Binghamton) of .324/.374/.459.
The attention will be on Rosario tonight, and he’ll be playing behind Steven Matz who is 2-4 over 9 games and 47.1 innings this year with a 5.51 ERA, 4.95 FIP and 1.500 WHIP. He had another rough outing his last time out against the Padres allowing 6 runs off 9 hits over 3.0 innings. In his last 4 starts he has allowed 21 runs off 34 hits in 13.1 innings. As a positive, he hasn’t walked anyone in his last two starts while striking out 9 (although you could probably make a joke about hitters not being patient since he’s allowing so many hits). He allowed 10 hits and a walk over 6.0 innings leading to only 2 runs last year against the Rockies. This year he had his worst start of the season against them allowing 7 runs off 9 hits and a walk over 1.0 inning. The Rockies have the following numbers against Matz:
- Blackmon 4-6, 2 2B
- Arenado 1-5, HR
- LeMahieu 3-4, BB
- Reynolds 3-5, 2 2B
- Story 2-4, 2B
- Gonzalez 1-3, 2B
The Mets bats will get a look at Jeff Hoffman who is 6-3 over 13 games and 12 starts over 69.1 innings with a 5.58 ERA, 4.19 FIP, 1.385 WHIP. In his last 7 starts he has tossed 37.1 innings allowing 48 hits and 36 runs leading to an ERA of 8.44. In his last two starts he has allowed 14 runs, 13 earned over 7.0 innings. In the start before that, he faced the Mets where he allowed 4 runs off 7 hits and a walk in 6.0 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against him:
- Bruce 2-3, 2B
- Cabrera 1-3, HR
- Conforto 0-3
- Granderson 0-2
- Reyes 0-2
- R Rivera 1-2, BB
Let’s Go Mets!
