Game Preview: Phillies vs Mets

The Mets were able to sneak out of St. Louis last night with a series win in a crucial set with the Cardinals and now they come home to start a series against the Phillies, one they have to win in order to have a shot at the playoffs (any series at this point is a must win at this point).

Bartolo Colon is 11-7 over 26 games and 25 starts with a 3.36 ERA and 144.2 innings. He’s coming off of a good start against the Giants were he allowed 2 ER over 6.1 innings despite allowing 9 hits in a win. He’s 1-1 over 3 starts and 17.2 innings against the Phillies this season with a 2.04 ERA. The Phillies have the following numbers against Bartolo:

  • Howard 6-28, 3 HR
  • Galvis 5-22, 2B, HR
  • Herrera 4-22
  • Ruiz 7-21, 2B
  • Hernandez 4-15
  • Rupp 5-14
  • Bourjos 4-13, 2B, 3B
  • Franco 0-11
  • Paredes 1-5

The Mets bats will get a crack at Adam Morgan who is 1-7 over 16 games, 14 starts and 75.1 innings with an ERA of 6.21. Since returning in mid-August, he’s had a bad start and then a good outing: 2 ER over 3.0 innings and then 1 ER over 6.0 innings. Last year he allowed 5 ER over one start against the Mets in 3.2 innings of work. The Mets have the following numbers against Adam:

  • Bruce 1-1, 2B
  • Cespedes 0-2
  • d’Arnaud 1-2, HR
  • Flores 1-2, HR
  • Rivera 0-2
