Game Preview: Rangers vs Mets

The Mets look the bounce back from yesterday’s loss today. Yesterday the Mets got off to a rough start in the first inning and were never able to recover. On the mound for the Mets today is Wheeler who is 3-8 over his first 17 starts and 95.1 innings with an ERA of 4.25. Two starts ago was the worst of this season where he allowed 6 ER over 2.0 innings. Last time out he allowed only one earned run over 6.1 innings. Since this is his second season, it makes sense that he has never faced the Rangers in his career, although he has faced Alex Rios who is 0-3 against Wheeler.

Nick Tepesch gets the start for the Rangers today. On the season he is 3-3 over 8 games and 44.1 innings with a 3.65 ERA. In the month of June he made four starts pitching 24.0 innings with a 3.00 ERA. His pattern has been allow 4 ER, then none, then 4 ER then none. Maybe he keeps the pattern going today? He has never faced the Mets, because like Wheeler, he made his major league debut in 2013. He has faced Chris Young though, who is 1-3 against Tepesch.

Lets Go Mets!
