Game Preview: Nationals @ Mets

After a disappointing series with the Braves, the Mets host the Nationals in Queens. Collin McHugh will get the start tonight for the Mets. He is 0-1 over two starts with a 3.27 ERA as he has allowed 4 ER in 11.0 innings of work. His MLB debut was seven innings of shutout ball, and sadly his last start was not that as he allowed 4 ER in 4 innings. The Nationals have no current numbers with McHugh since this will be their first time seeing him.

The Mets get a look at Gio Gonzalez again who is 18-7 over 28 games with an ERA 2.98 over a stretch of 175.1 innings. In his last two starts he has thrown a combined 16 innings of shutout ball with 17 strikeouts. In three starts against the Mets he has pitched 16.0 innings allowing 8 ER which is mostly due to a 3.1 inning, 6 ER outing. The Mets have the following numbers against Gio:

Torres 4-17, 2B
Bay 0-11
Hairston 3-11, 2B
Shoppach 1-8
Turner 1-9
Cedeno 2-8, 3B
Davis 4-8, 2B, HR
Wright 2-7, HR
