Game Preview: Braves @ Mets

Coming off R.A. Dickey’s 18th win of the season, the Mets return home today to start a series with the Braves. The Braves currently have the lead Wild Card spot with competition looming close, so the Mets have an opportunity to play spoiler here.  Jon Niese gets the start for the Amazin’s tonight as Paul Maholm gets the nod for the Braves.

Niese is 10-8 this season with a 3.55 ERA over 26 games and 165.0 innings of work. In his last two starts he has pitched 13.0 innings allowing 6 ER. Against the Braves this year he has allowed 5 runs, 4 earned in 14.0 innings of work. The Braves have the following numbers against Jon:

His slightly higher numbers in a Braves uniform is due to his last start against Philly where he allowed 7 ER over 2 innings of work.
