Matt Harvey looks to keep his recent streak going tonight. He’s 4-8 over 13 games and 73.1 innings with a 4.66 ERA. In his last three starts he’s 1-1 over 20.0 innings with a 0.90 ERA with 17 K’s. After dropping the opener 4-0 with very little offense, the Mets exploded last night knocking the ball around for 19 hits and 11 runs including homers from Flores and Kelly Johnson. Not to be outdone, Syndergaard pitched 8.1 innings as the Mets look to evict people from Panic City.

Bartolo Colon will look to keep it going. He’s 5-3 over 13 games and 12 starts with 73.0 innings of work and a 3.08 ERA. In his last four starts he’s 2-0 over 25.0 innings with a 1.80 ERA. Tonight they look to get back on the right track behind their source of thunder: Noah Syndergaard. Thor is 6-2 over 13 games and 12 starts and 76.2 innings with 95 K’s and a 2.00 ERA this season. In the month of June he has tossed 13.0 innings allowing 5 runs, 4 earned including his last start against the Pirates where he allowed 3 runs, 2 earned over 6.0 innings with 5 K’s in a game the Mets eventually won. The Mets started off well in Milwaukee but ended on a whimper after a forgettable game in the broiling Sun on Saturday and an error filled affair on Sunday. The Mets mounted a comeback attempt late on Sunday’s game but it was too late. Focusing on today, the Pirates have yet to announce a starting pitcher for tonight. My gut right now says its going to Jameson Taillon, who is supposed to start in Indy tonight, so I’m writing this game preview for him, knowing it may be wrong.

What is for sure is Jacob deGrom will be on the hill for the Mets. Jacob is 3-2 over 10 games and 61.0 innings with a 2.80 ERA. He is coming off of an average start against the Pirates where he allowed 3 ER over 6.0 innings with 9 K’s (it’s a bit odd calling that average, but its really about the runs. 9 K’s were the second most he recorded all season). Yesterday was forgettable, so lets forget it.

Logan Verrett made the spot start and after the Mets went up quickly 2-0, things started to fall apart as the Brewers went on a homer launching spree. Oh well. Steven Matz will try to take the series from the Brew Crew for the Orange and Blue Crew today. Matz is 7-2 over 10 starts and 60.1 innings this year with a 2.39 ERA. His last two starts have been shorter for Matz as he has allowed 10.2 innings and 14 hits with 5 runs, 3 earned while striking out 11. He faced the Brewers earlier this season allowing 2 ER over 7.0 innings while striking out 8. The Brewers have the following numbers against him:

• Carter 1-3, HR
• Hill 0-3
• Lucroy 0-3

The Mets look to take the series today against the Brewers as they play game three in a four game set! The Mets got a third consecutive good start from Matt Harvey last night but the offense took a slumber instead of the lumber and the game went into extras. The Mets were able to push across a run in extra innings and the Mets were able to take the game. Now the Mets, who have had to play a lot of baseball this past week, find themselves a bit taxed heading into the last two games before the off-day.

The Mets turn to Logan Verrett today due to the double-header earlier in the week. He’s 3-3 over 18 games and 3 starts this year with a 3.22 ERA over 36.1 innings. He started back to back games early in the season when deGrom was down and pitched 12.0 innings allowing no runs and 9 hits while striking out 10. His last start wasn’t good at all as he allowed 7 ER over 2.2 innings in Colorado. Last year he recorded two clean innings against the Brewers allowing nothing but a walk. The Brewers have the following numbers against Logan:

The Mets draw Wily Peralta today who is 3-7 over 12 games with a 6.79 ERA over 61.0 innings and a league leading 92 hits. After a terrible start against the Padres in mid-May where he allowed 6 earned runs over 4.2 innings, he has more or less pitched average for the rest of the month. His last start was a disaster though allowing 6 runs, 7 hits over 4.1 innings. He took the loss in one start against the Mets last year allowing 5 earned runs over 5.0 innings with 9 hits. The Mets took the first game of the four game set with the Brewers last night and look to take the second tonight! Last night Granderson got things started off early with a homer and then it became the Bartolo Colon show as he dominated the Brewers’ lineup. The Mets added more runs thanks to a continued bump in offense from Cespedes and Flores. As a bonus, Familia pitched a clean ninth for his 20th save of the season.

Matt Harvey gets the start for the Mets. The Dark Knight is 4-8 (league leading in losses) over 12 starts and 67.1 innings with a 4.95 ERA. Harvey found himself as the hard luck loser in his last start allowing only 1 run in a game the Mets lost 1-0. In his last two starts he has allowed 1 ER over 14.0 innings with 1 walk, and 9 K’s. Surprisingly, Matt has never faced the Brewers before. He has faced Aaron Hill, who is 3-9 against him.

The Mets bats will get a look at Junior Guerra who is 3-1 over 7 starts and 42.1 innings with an ERA of 3.61. In his last two starts he has allowed 7 runs, 6 earned over 12.1 innings. Guerra made his major league debut at 30 years old with the White Sox last year (3 games, 4.0 innings, 6.75 ERA) and was selected off waivers by the Brewers. Rene Rivera is the only Met who has seen him, and he is 0-1.

The Mets were able to salvage a game in Pittsburgh before heading to Milwaukee to start a four game set tonight. Before I continue, shout-out to The 7 Line. I’m going on the Milwaukee invasion, and since I’ve had to write/type Milwaukee so many times in the last month, I FINALLY can spell it. Last night was a big night for a lot of Mets who needed one at the plate. Conforto hit a homer, Flores hit a go-ahead single in the 10th, Cespedes recorded three hits, Kelly had his first homer. The game also had some downsides too that brought it to the 10th inning and almost lost the game, like Walker’s two errors and Familia walking 3 before getting a critical double play.

The Mets will rely on Bartolo Colon tonight who is 4-3 over 12 games and 11 starts, 66.0 innings of work this season with a 3.27 ERA. In his last three starts he has pitched 18.0 innings, allowed 17 hits and has posted a nice ERA of 2.00. Last year he was 0-2 against the Brewers in as many starts allowing 10 runs, 9 earned over 11.0 innings and 17 hits. The Brewers have the following numbers against Colon:
