Game Preview: Rockies vs Mets

The Mets try to avoid the four game sweep and their fifth loss in a row this afternoon as they take on the Rockies. It’s been a struggle of late for the Amazin’s who have scored only 40 runs since the All-Star break, a major league low. Last night, Colon got roughed up towards the end of this outing after a series of defensive miscues from a non-optimal defensive lineup for the Mets. The Rox were able to pull away in the later innnings while the Mets seemed to be searching the forest to find lumber to hit a ball with.

Syndergaard starts for the Mets today and he is 9-5 over 20 games and 19 starts this year pitching 117.1 innings with a 2.45 ERA. In the month of July he has pitched 4 times totaling 23.1 innings with a 2.31 ERA while striking out 29 batters. Last year he held the Rockies to 3 ER over 7.0 innings of work. The Rockies have the following numbers against Thor:

The Mets bats will continue to find themselves against Chad Bettis who is 9-6 over 21 starts and 121.1 innings this year with a 5.19 ERA. He leads the leagues in hits allowed with 142. Things have gotten a bit better for him of late as he has allowed only 8 hits and 3 ER in his last 12.2 innings over two starts. The last time he faced the Mets was back in 2014 where he allowed 4 ER over 2.0 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against him:
