Game Preview: Phillies vs Mets

Last night was great, let’s do that again!

The Mets opened up with an early 2-0 lead before the Phillies eroded it and passed the Mets 3-2. The Mets then tied the game and later took a 4-3 lead before the Phillies hit a 3 run homer off of Reed. Then in the 9th inning, the Mets added two runs on a Reyes homer sending the game into extras. Duda would later come inches away from winning the game but it wouldn’t be his night. The Phillies took a 8-6 lead in the 11th but Cabrera had other ideas in the bottom of the 11th slamming a 3-run homer to give the Mets the win.

Gabriel Ynoa will look to keep the good times going. There were rumors that tonight would be Matz’s return to the rotation but he’s not ready yet, so it’s Ynoa time. He’s 1-0 over 7 games and 1 start with 10.0 innings and a 9.00 ERA. In his first start, he allowed 1 ER over 4.2 innings while striking out 8 Twins. This will be Gabriel’s first time facing the Phillies.

The Mets bats will get a crack at Jeremy Hellickson who is 12-9 over 30 starts and 181.1 innings with a 3.57 ERA. He’s coming off of one of his best starts of the season where he pitched a complete game shutout against the Marlins while allowing only 3 hits. His last start against the Mets wasn’t so good as he allowed 5 ER and 7 hits over 4.0 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against the Marlins:

  • Granderson 5-27, 2 2B, HR
  • Reyes 10-27, 2B, HR
  • Cabrera 7-18, 2B,HR
  • De Aza 4-18, 3 2B
  • Cespedes 6-14, 3 HR
  • K Johnson 1-9
  • Duda 4-9, 2 2B, HR
  • Lagares 2-5, HR
