Allen and Ginter’s is one my favorite card sets by Topps. Joe Smith was one of my favorite pitchers on the Mets. They make a wonderful pair:

With San Francisco and Cincinnati clinching their divisions last night, we get a look at what the Mets missed out on postseason wear for teams this year. Below are pictures from the MLB shop of the Giants Championship gear:

The last time I remember the hat saying playoffs rather than champions was 2006, but I could be wrong (and then it just said Division Series). I wonder if they did that this year with the two extra playoff spots and not wanted to print multiple versions of hats for the same team (although they would have to do that for T-Shirts).
Also, first time I’ve seen a champion shirt with the state picture, which is interesting for a few of the teams in the playoffs. How will this look for DC? Not all of California roots for San Francisco?
But overall good work on the merchandise, I guess I’m just jealous because the Mets aren’t in it.
The Mets go for the sweep today against the Marlins as Chris Young takes the mound against Ricky Nolasco. Young is 4-8 over 18 starts and 103.0 innings with an ERA of 4.37. He’s 1-1 over the last three starts while pitching 17.2 innings with a 3.06 ERA while striking out 12 batters. His last start against the Marlins he pitched 5.0 innings while allowing 1 ER, before that he pitched 4.1 innings allowing 7 ER (and I was at the game questioning my existence). The Marlins have the following numbers against Young:
Reyes 3-17, 3B, HR
Dobbs 3-15, 2B
Lee 3-10
Peterson 1-6
Ruggiano 3-6, 2 2B
Ricky Nolasco gets the start the Marlins, who is 12-12 this season over 29 starts while pitching 179.0 innings with an ERA of 4.42. He’s 3-0 in his last four starts while pitching 30.0 innings with a 1.20 ERA. In 11.2 innings against the Mets he has allowed 7 ER and the Mets have the following numbers against Nolasco:
Wright 20-60, 4 2B, 5 HR
Bay 6-20, 2B, 2 HR
Murphy 7-22, 2 2B
Davis 3-17, 2 2B
Torres 4-11, 2 2B

The Mets and Marlins continue their series to see who will be at the bottom of the league, and today the Mets send out R.A. Dickey in quest for his 19th win of the season. Dickey is 18-6 with a 2.67 ERA while pitching 212.0 innings and striking out 205 batters. He’s 4-0 against the Marlins this year pitching 31.0 innings while only allowing 4 ER. In his last six games he has pitched 43.2 innings with a 1.85 ERA. The Marlins have the following numbers against him:
Lee 9-29, 3 2B, HR
Reyes 2-19
Dobbs 3-18, 3B
Stanton 4-17, 2B
Buck 3-13, 2B
The Mets will get a look at Mark Buehrle who is 13-12 this season with a 3.78 ERA over 188.1 innings of work. In the month of September he has pitched 21.2 innings while allowing 12 ER and against the Mets this season he is 0-2 with a 3.92 ERA. The Mets have the following numbers against him:

Shoppach 8-20, 2 2B, 4 HR
Davis 1-8, HR

Let’s Go Mets!
The Mets try to get away from the horrible series they just played with Philly as they invite the Marlins up to New York. Jon Niese is 11-9 over 28 games while pitching 177.0 innings while posting a 3.46 ERA. In his last 12 innings in two games he has allowed only 3 ER while striking out 7 batters. The Phillies have the following numbers against Niese:
Rollins 7-33, 2 2B
Mayberry 9-28, 2 2B, 3 HR
Ruiz 6-17, HR
Utley 2-15
Howard 1-15
The Mets will get a look at the young pitcher, Jacob Turner who is making his 8th start of the year. Overall he is 2-3 with a 5.20 ERA while striking out 24 batters over 36.1 innings. He has played parts of two major league seasons, and this will be his first time facing the Mets as a ball club or anyone on the Mets.
Let’s Go Mets!
The Mets dropped another game to the Phillies last night as the offense couldn’t help out Matt Harvey’s great outing. Tonight Jeremy Hefner will get the start for the Mets as he is 2-6 over 79.1 innings with a 4.99 ERA. His last start wasn’t that great as he allowed 5 ER in 2.2 innings of work. Overall this year he has allowed 6 ER over 7.1 innings against the Phillies who have the following numbers against him:
Rollins 1-4, 2B
Wigginton 2-4, HR
Pierre 1-2
Mayberry 0-1
Ruiz 1-1
Tyler Cloyd makes the start for the Phillies tonight. On the season, Tyer is 1-1 over 4 starts and a 4.95 ERA while pitching 20 innings striking out 20 batters. His major league debut was against the Mets as he allowed 7 hits and 3 earned runs in 6 innings of work on his way to a loss. In his last two starts he has allowed 4 ER in 4 innings and 3 ER in 3 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against him:
Tejada 0-4
Davis 2-3
Duda 1-3, HR
Hairston 1-2, 2B
Murphy 1-2
Harvey 1-2
