The Mets won their 4th straight, 5th of their last 6th last night against the Braves. In the win, they secured a series victory and today they can go for the rare four game sweep as Colon gets the start. In a brief review of last night, Gee was fantastic working quickly picking up straight were he left off, and Travis d’Arnaud continued to crush the ball since coming back from Vegas.
Colon is 8-7 on the year with a 4.04 ERA over 17 starts and 113.2 innings. One has to think that both this start and his next one are auditions for other teams that might be interested in him. His last start was rough as he allowed 5 ER over 7 innings, but it really was just his first inning that was horrible (or to quote the teenager sitting near me after the first inning, “it’s over!”). This was the second start in a row where Colon allowed 5 ER. In two starts this year against Atlanta he allowed 3 ER over 14.0 innings while striking out 11. The Braves have the following numbers against Colon:
- BJ Upton 9-29, 2B, 3B, HR, 8 K
- Heyward 1-8
- Laird 0-7
- Freeman 4-6, 2 2B
- Johnson 1-6
- Simmons 2-6
Harang is 8-6 on the season over 18 starts and 110.1 innings with a 3.67 ERA. Since the start where he allowed 8 ER over 5.0 innings he has pitched 21.0 innings over 3 games with a 3.00 ERA. In two starts against the Mets this year he has pitched 13.0 innings with one earned run. The Mets have the following numbers against Harang:
- Wright 11-26, 4 2B, HR
- C Young 7-27, 3 HR
- Duda 2-14, HR
- Murphy 6-17, 4 2B, HR
- Tejada 6-14, 2 2B
- E Young 5-9, 2B
- Abreu 4-10, 2 HR
Lets Go Mets!
