Mark DeRosa’s Interesting 2014 Baseball Card

Topps Series 1 always has some “misprints” usually due to players changing teams late. For example, this year’s Chris Young’s card has him in an Athletics uniform, something that will be changed in the Update and Highlight’s series at the end of the year. With the word of DeRosa’s retirement, rather than pulling his card and changing the whole lineup, they just changed the image, having some fun (this is of course speculation, maybe they fully intended to go with this ridiculous card from the start):

And there you go. DeRosa’s 2014 “Baseball” Card. Happy Retirement!

Mets Baseball Card of the Day: Cordova Bowman Gold

Part of the nice part of the Bowman card set is there is a lot of value in the base cards. There are a lot of first professional cards, rookie cards, debut cards for a variety of prospects and then there are a lot of parallels of them. This is the lowest level parallel, gold:

Mets Baseball Card of the Day: David Wright (Topps Moments and Milestones)

This is a David Wright card from a really unusual card set. Moments and Milestones focused on the season and career achievements of every player in the base set. Let’s say they wanted to highlight player X’s 35 homers in a season. There would then be 35 different card from that one player. So each card in this set, was part of a set. Here’s the David Wright’s card:

Oh yeah, to make collecting the set harder, each card is numbered also. Honestly if anyone finished any of the sets, my hat is off to them.
